The Dragon Chamber is a speakeasy inspired by old Chinatown alleyways and the dens of secret societies. Its entrance is hidden behind a regular fridge door located within an unassuming cafe, lending it a mysterious charm especially for newcomers who have never stepped foot into this bar before.

They’ve recently revamped their cocktail program to showcase seven new cocktails that draw from regional flavours. If you’re a fan of spicy food, try the Bangkok Breeze which is a concoction featuring tom yum vodka, kaffir lime syrup, fresh lime, and egg white. Or you can sip on the zesty Umai Dream that mixes umeshu, honey yuzu tea, and a dash of chocolate bitters.

Puffy Bois

After successful takeovers of multiple restaurants around town, the boys at Puffy Bois have finally found a permanent home in Kampong Glam. Despite it looking like a moody bachelor pad, the vibes and the menu are as unpretentious as they can be. Think fresh, puffy, and personal pizzas complemented by a selection of cocktails that are meant to be consumed fast.

But don’t let the simplicity of the cocktails fool you. Plenty of familiar drinks sport unique twists, like how their Old Fashioned (named Duck and Weave) utilises tequila instead of whiskey. The Sour Crush Cooler, a whisky highball, has also been given a tangy taste with the use of sour mango.

The chances are good you would’ve already been to Potato Head at Keong Saik or to its decadent drinking den, Studio 1939. While it has been around for some time, head bartender Kavish Hurrydoss recently revamped the bar menu inspired by the world of art and music.

Titled Palette of Sounds, each drink takes cues from popular songs and bands. A pink-hued gin highball is named Imagine Dragon after the band and the use of dragon fruit to give it a pink shade. There are also other drinks like the Mambo Mia, Otis Rock, and Purple Rain. If you’re feeling indecisive, you can also get your bartender to make you a custom drink.
