‘Tis the season to be jolly and nothing is more joyous than taking a vacation in paradise. This has been a hard year and many of us could use a quick getaway to ring in 2023. Of course, with the economy in shambles, a budget-friendly holiday will have to do but we should not compromise on the fun. 

Here are some scenic destinations in the South-east Asia region that pass the VibeCheck:

Khao Yai, Thailand

The hustle and bustle of Bangkok is so passè. Just a two and a half-hour car ride out of the Thai capital lies the picturesque Khao Yai, which is known for its incredible wildlife and the UNESCO World Heritage National Park.

If you’re looking to stay in a resort surrounded by nature, you are in luck as the newly opened InterContinental Khao Yai Resort is situated atop of a 19-hectare land with 30,000 trees and five lakes. Da Nang, Vietnam

Want to enjoy cooler weather without the hefty European airfares? Well, this coastal city in Central Vietnam is the place for you. The temperature can drop to a low of 18 degrees celsius, which is something very uncommon for this part of the world.

Also, Da Nang is best known for its incredible beaches. The InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort is offering an all inclusive promotion at one of its villas where guests can dine, unwind and party till the sun rises with amenities such as a spa, a pool and a private bbq experience with fireworks.

Genting Highlands, Malaysia

Our dear neighbour has a ton to offer and one location worth visiting again is Genting Highlands. Not only is it cooler than other cities, it is also the home for many theme parks with exhilarating rides.

The newly renovated SkyWorlds Theme Park by Resorts World Genting has nine different worlds and 26 rides throughout the park to entertain you for hours on end. Also, RWG will be hosting a music festival in partnership with Heineken on 9 December with The Chainsmokers as headliners.

Kanazawa, Japan

Now that Japan is open to travellers, major cities will be teeming with eager tourists at fish markets, the shopping districts and the popular sights. Instead of crowding with the others, visit Kanazawa, which is the capital city of the illustrious Ishikawa Prefecture.

The city has a ton of cultural attractions such as the Kenrokuen Garden, Kanazawa Castle Park and the Higaya Chaya District where Geishas entertain guests at the teahouses. From Kanazawa, travellers may take a day-trip out to Nagano’s Jigokudani Monkey Park to witness cute monkeys taking their baths in the hot springs.

Jeju, South Korea

There are many thrilling options for the adventurous travellers in Asia but few are as stunning as Jeju. From hiking in the mountains to eating freshly caught seafood at the beaches, there is something for everyone.

Jeju’s Jeongbang waterfall is hailed as one of the most beautiful waterfalls in South Korea and it is the only one that flows directly into the ocean. Aside from these coastal walks, the lava tubes at Manjanggul Cave are also open to the public to explore and marvel at the wonders of nature.
