Yogis, listen up. Australian fitness franchise STRONG Pilates will be making its way to our sunny shores really soon in partnership with Yoga Movement.
Pilates is one of the top five exercise genres along with cycling, yoga, strength training and boxing. Also, according to ClassPass, pilates reservations doubled with the highest sell-out rate in the last 12 months within the Singapore market.
Over the next three to four years, the partnership will see 11 new STRONG Pilates studios across Singapore bringing its high intensity 45-minute workout class via a purpose built rowformer and bikeformer to deliver the perfect full body workout.
“We are looking forward to bringing the STRONG format to new audiences across Asia, following its popularity in the Australian and UK market. We share core values with Yoga Movement and believe this will be very complementary to its existing member base, and based on demand, the wider community,” said Michael Ramsey and Mark Armstrong, founders of STRONG Pilates.
In 2022 alone, more than one million Australians participated in pilates and became the fastest growing fitness class down under.
While both wellness practices provide a slew of similar benefits that are not limited to increased flexibility, strength, core, control, endurance and stress relief but to varying degrees for both genres.
Yoga places an emphasis on spiritual connection and in turn helps to calm and centre ourselves while pilates will push our core, strength and flexibility further. It is also hard to say which is the better option for an individual, we will have to give both a try.
“We’re thrilled to enhance our offering to include STRONG Pilates. Last year, Yoga Movement saw a total of 365,000 attendances to classes and we're projected to see more than half a million visits this coming year. We're excited to be adding a new fitness routine with STRONG Pilates which is unlike any of our current workouts,” said Yoga Movement founders Peter Thew and Alicia Pan.
